I Told Subscribers I'd Only Send 4 msgs/month, But I Have a Last Minute Deal. Can I Send 5?

Although you probably won’t get into any legal trouble if you do it just once, why risk it? If you made your subscribers a promise, you should honor that. If not, you run the risk of a drastic increase in opt outs, which will only hurt you in the long run.

We recommend scheduling out your promotions at least 1 month in advance. This usually prevents circumstances like this from happening. If not, keep a close eye on your messaging schedule.

Remember, this is a matter of CTIA compliance. If you consistently send out messages that go over your promised frequency, it could result in legal ramifications. For more detailed recommendations, check out our SMS Compliance Guidebook.
