Workflows - Trigger Objects

Trigger objects kick-off a workflow by inserting contacts into your workflows.  

A workflow can’t function without a trigger object. Trigger objects are actions such as joining a list, changing a contact field or starting a chat thread. 

  • Only contacts that are subscribed to the textword the workflow is attached to may enter a workflow.
  • Using multiple trigger objects may result in a single subscriber entering the workflow more than once unless you’ve limited their ability to re-enter the workflow in the Basic Setup.

 

Trigger

Definition

List Joined

The workflow will trigger when a contact joins the textword. The settings for this object allow you to determine which opt-in method(s) will trigger the workflow. You can use multiple List Joined triggers within a workflow to send contacts down a different bath based on how they joined.

Schedule

The workflow will trigger at a scheduled date and time. The object setting allows you to enroll the entire list or just a segment of the contacts into the workflow.

Contact Field Changed

The workflow will trigger when a specified contact field is changed or populated for the first time. This change could be from a data capture form, survey, manual change, or even an API call. 

Chat Message Received

The workflow will trigger when a chat message is received from a contact. There are 4 options available that allow you to specify additional conditions that must be met before the workflow will trigger:

  • Any Message - Workflow will trigger every time a message is received

  • Messages that start a new thread - Workflow will only trigger if a new chat thread is started

  • Messages that reopen a closed thread - Workflow will only trigger if a message is received from a contact with a closed chat thread

  • Messages that start a new thread or reopen a closed one - Workflow will trigger if a message is received from a contact with a closed chat thread or if a new chat thread is started.

Smart Link Clicked

The workflow will trigger when a contact clicks on a smart link that was sent out in a campaign or in a message that is part of a workflow. Smart links can be created when composing a message. Paste or type a valid URL into the message and follow the prompts to create and name the smart link.

Survey Completed

The workflow will trigger when a contact completes a survey. The object settings allow you to choose which survey will trigger the workflow. Go to Marketing Tools and click on Manage Surveys to create or edit the survey.

Order Status

(Requires Shopify integration) The workflow will trigger based on order status changes like: Checkout Started, Cart Abandoned, Order Placed, Order Shipped, Order Delivered and Order Cancelled.
