Over the years, we’ve run across a bunch of reoccurring questions from our first time customers. Listed below are the top inquiries we’ve encountered. If your question isn’t answered below, feel free to check out our new and improved text message marketing help center.
1. How do I grow my list?
There are multiple ways you can grow your list, but it all leads back to one simple solution: offer an appealing incentive. The people that experience the most success with text message marketing are the ones that provide all new opt ins with an irresistible offer. In addition, you must promote your list. You could have an awesome opt in incentive, but if no one knows about it, how do you expect people to join? Put up in store flyers, install a website widget, engage in verbal invitations – the promotion tactics are endless, but all can be equally effective.
2. How many campaigns should I send out per month?
Although the exact number may vary, we usually recommend no more than four. This averages out to about one a week, and if done correctly, this is more than enough. Text message marketing is not like email marketing. With email marketing, it’s completely ok and acceptable to send out 10+ campaigns a month. On the flip side, doing this with your text subscribers will only result in a substantial amount of opt outs.
3. How do I pick an opt in incentive?
Do your research. Find out what your customers want. While some take a liking to free merchandise, others prefer massive discounts. Don’t force an offer on your customers, instead tailor an offer to their preferences. Don’t use text message marketing as a way to get rid of leftover merchandise. Treat your text marketing subscribers like VIPs by offering them the best incentives.
4. What should I do if people opt out?
Unfortunately, there’s not much you can do. Text marketing law prevents you from reaching out to them again. Always use their lack of interest as a learning experience. Ask yourself, “What could I have done better?” Maybe you weren’t sending out qualified offers, or maybe they simply weren’t qualified subscribers. Either way, do your research, and improve your tactics whenever necessary.
