How to create effective auto-replies.

Slick Text Auto-ReplyI’ve had some people ask me recently about best practices for their auto-replies. If you’re unsure what an “auto-reply” is, you an visit the SlickText Help Center to learn more. An effective, standard auto reply will consist of 3 things:

  • A thank you or other confirmation that they have signed up for your list.
  • The frequency in which you’ll be texting them.
  • The way they can opt out of your list. (PLEASE NOTE: SLICKTEXT ALREADY DOES THIS ONE FOR YOU – See image to the right.)

You can also get rather creative with the power of auto-replies. For example, we have some restaurants that run promotions say things like “text “bobs ice cream” to 31996 to receive a coupon good for a free ice cream cone after today’s little league game”. When a person then sends the message, they get an auto-reply that says something like “Thanks for signing up for bobs ice cream! Show this text and get 1 free small ice cream cone!”. The opportunities are endless. You must make sure they know they are signing up for a text marketing list though. It will make your business or organization look bad if they think you’ve tried to trick them into signing up. The possibilities are endless!
